At the age of 18 and ranking among the top ten female professional surfers in the world Barbie Baron chose to leave competition and pursue a dream of opening her own surf shop. A few years later Barbie took on a partner in the business named Scot Tammen. Together they and the shop quickly topped the list of places to go for local and traveling surfers alike. Over the many years just a few of the highlights include the best in the world coming to town to surf contests at the beach in front of the shop, the local shop band Boneyard playing every music venue in north county, and half the surfers who grew up in town working behind the counter.
